Which Special Dish Is Prepared On Independence Day? 5 Tricolour Recipes

 

Apart from the above-mentioned dishes, unique tricolour dishes are prepared on Independence Day to celebrate the atmosphere of the special occasion:

 

1. Tricoloured Dhokla

Ready for something fun and innovative that everyone would enjoy? Here’s the first dish on the list of best Independence Day recipes!
 

Ingredients

Preparation

  • ½ cup Rice, soaked and drained
  • ½ cup chopped skinless Black Gram, soaked and drained.
  • 200 gm of Yoghurt 
  • 1 tsp of Fruit Salt 
  • 1 tsp of Green chilli and Ginger paste  
  • 2 tbsp of Oil 
  • One tsp of Mustard seeds 
  • ½ tsp Asafoetida 
  • 8-10 Curry leaves 
  • 1 cup Spinach puree
  • ½ tsp Kashmiri chili powder

For The Batter: 

  • Soak the rice and black gram for at least 8 hours and wash it thoroughly twice with water.
  • Grind it into a fine consistency batter, add yoghurt to it, and let it rest for 5 to 6 or overnight hours to ferment.

     

For Dhokla:

  • First, pour the batter into a large bowl, add a little fruit salt and divide it into three equal parts.
  • Mix one portion of batter, Kashmiri chilli powder and tomato ketchup to make the orange batter.
  • Keep one part of the smooth batter aside in a separate bowl for the white dough.
  • Mix the remaining third of the batter, spinach puree, ginger, green chilli paste, and a pinch of salt to make the green batter.
  • Pour the green batter into the flat oiled plate of steamer. Steam it for good 15 minutes. Once done, pour one cup of the white batter on top of the green layer and steam it for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Later, add the orange layer to it and steam it.
  • Dhokla will be ready after about 15 minutes. Remove and let cool.
  • Slice it into the required shapes, then arrange the pieces to resemble Tiranga Dhokla on a plate.

     

Finishing Touches:

  • In a small pan, heat the oil and add mustard seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves & prepare tempering 
  • Add the tadka to the tiranga dhokla, & top it off with chopped coriander and grated coconut.
  • Accompany with both sweet and green chutneys.

For the batter:

  • 1 kg of Rice
  • 200 g Urad dal
  • 200 g of Cuff
  • Salt to taste

Orange Color:

  • Kashmiri chilli powder
  • Tomato ketchup
  • White dough
  • Keep one part of the smooth dough aside in a separate bowl.

Green colour:

  • 2 cups chopped Mint leaves
  • 1 cup chopped Cilantro
  • One tablespoon of chopped Green chillies
  • One tablespoon of Ginger
  • Salt to taste

 

2. Tricolour Smoothie

Every plate should have a healthy drink to fill in the day. Try this Tricolour Smoothie:

Preparation

For Orange Layer

  • 1/4 cup Mango pulp
  • 2 spoons of Yoghurt
  • 1 teaspoon of Honey
  • Mix the ingredients for the green layer, divide into 2 serving glasses and freeze for 20 minutes.
  • After carefully arranging the materials for the white layer on top of the green layer, freeze them for 20 minutes.
  • Mix the components of the orange layer and place them carefully on top of the white layer & put them in the freezer for some time.
  • Serve them chilled.

 

For the white layer

  • 1 sliced Banana
  • 1 teaspoon of Honey

For the green layer

  • 2 spoons of Yoghurt
  • 1 teaspoon of Honey
  • 1 sliced Kiwi

 

3. Tricolor Fruit Chaat

Preparation

  • 2 Apples
  • 2 Kiwi
  • 2 Peeled oranges
  • ¼ tsp Chaat masala
  • ½ tsp Lemon juice
  • ¼ cup Papaya and Grapes mixed
  • Mix the chopped apples, kiwi and oranges in a bowl.
  • Drizzle it with some chaat masala and lemon juice.
  • This tangy fruit blend delivers an explosion of flavour.

  • Cut off the bread's corners and spread butter on it.

  • Then, put a slice of cheese in the middle and fill it with carrot, beetroot, and mayonnaise.

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • ½ cup Rice
  • 1 medium Onion
  • ¼ cup chopped Carrot
  • ¼ cup Peas
  • ¼ cup Green Beans
  • ¼ cup Capsicum
  • 100gm Paneer
  • Green Chutney
  • Spices: Bayleaf, star anise, Cinnamon stick, Black Cardamom, Black Pepper
  • Put oil in a pot and fry all its spices.
  • Now add the onion, carrot, peas, green beans, capsicum, and paneer and saute well.
  • When all the vegetables are cooked, add the spices and rice, add water, and close the cooker.
  • After the whistle, take the hot pulao in a casserole and serve it with green chutney and salad.
